Regeneration – what is it?

By: Ambiance

An exercise in pointlessness.

I care about  climate change policy so I read many of the major books in the field. One that was recommended recently is a book by @Paul Hawken called @Regeneration- Ending the climate crisis in one generation.

He writes on the first page.

“For the past 40 years the most powerful way to reverse global warming was overlooked. The only effective and timely way to reverse the climate crisis is the regeneration of life in all its manifestations , human , biological. “

He goes on.

“The economy exploits people and environment. To reverse global warming, we need to reverse global regeneration.”

I can’t make out what that means

The book is beautifully illustrated and includes some ideas I was less aware about . The book includes chapters on Grazing Ecology, Trophic Cascades, Vermiculture, and fashionable issues like Women& Food and Indigeneity. – don’t ask me what that is.

Overall it is my opinion that this type of book does more harm than good. It is not practical and the book’s contents  lead to no sensible policy ideas or directions to action.
